Which encoder does the Internet Archive use to make the MPEG movies?

we found that the canopus mpeg codec was not as good as ligos on high quality. we tested 10 major mpeg2 encoders and found the pinnacle codecs to be the best...
not surprising really since they were the kings of motion jpeg and hardware mpeg2 cards for a long time. Its all in the scene/GOP analysis techniques.....
I'd recommend a pinnacle DC2000 cos you'll obviously want realtime encoding (no chance with ligos......).
p.s. we tried SoftMPEG on highest quality as well as the hardware chip (StormEncoder, Amber module, MVR-1000 ( ithink) , RexPro)
(ps we tested straight from a DV source) (canopus DV captured i believe)

are you folks talking about mpeg encoding in general, or specifically the internet archive?
Do DVguru or AV Geek Skip work at the archive or are you encoding buffs? How much have you used the Pinnacle DC 2000? Are you generally very happy with the quality?
It sounds like you are.
